Start dates in August 2010 and January 2011

We are now accepting applications for this year’s round of scholarships to Germany. Our German affiliate is offering 6 full scholarships (half-year and year program) as well as 10 partial scholarships of 1,000 Euros each (2 and 3-month program). These are offered worldwide and NZ students have been awarded a high proportion of these in the last three years.

NZIIU currently has four students in Germany who were awarded these scholarships in 2010 as well as a further two who were awarded NZIIU scholarships.

The aim of these scholarships is to enable qualified students who are financially disadvantaged to participate in an exchange to Germany.

A full scholarship means that no fee will be charged for the programme but students will still have to find their airfare, pocket money and some other minor costs. With a partial scholarship, the usual programme fee is reduced by 1,000 Euros.

More information and application forms can be obtained by sending an e-mail to Ian Lambert ian@nziiu.co.nz.

Congratulations to Amber Hosking of Dunedin’s Queens High School who has been awarded a full scholarship to Germany for 2010! The value of this is a little under 4000 Euros and means that Amber will have to find only an airfare and pocket money.

The scholarships are provided by our German affiliate Experiment EV and are offered worldwide. Last year three of the twelve scholarships were awarded to NZ students and two of them are still in Germany.

Experiment EV have commented favourably on the high quality of the shortlisted applications and would like to be able to provide assistance to all of these students. The full range of scholarships will not be completed until mid September and we are hoping to attract at least one more for another worthy student on our shortlist.

Applications for this programme can now be accepted a month later than the usual September 1 deadline. Since the process can be long, it would be a good idea to start now. Download an initial application form, complete it and send it to us and we’ll send you a full application prior to an interview at home. Most people with at least two years of French study are able to go and we need to have your application in France by October 1.

We are now offering a wider range of scholarships in 2009. They are all based on your need for assistance and on your likely success as an exchange students. A total of 17 scholarships, in additional to the current German scholarships, will be available in 2009. They range in value from $2000 to $4000 for departures between July 2009 and Apr 2010. We're expecting them to be very helpful to students whose families find exchange very expensive, especially in the current economic situation. The assistance we're offering does not depend on the country you want to go nor on how long you want to go for. They can be for a one year exchange to any country, for semester programmes or for one of our short exchanges to France.
We are now expecting to be able to announce the winners of Experiment EV Scholarships to Germany around July 1. There have been unexpected delays in Germany. Thank you to all who submitted applications. All were of high quality and making up a shortlist wasn’t easy. Good luck to those who have had their applications sent to Germany for consideration. We will let you know individually of the results.
