NZ Schools – Cultural Opportunities/Sister School/Friendship

NZIIU recognises that schools have different demands on space, staff and resources. We offer the flexibility for schools to take part in the study tours either as a School Contract or as a Standard Programme.

School Contract

A NZ school hosts a school group and looks after finding host families, teaching the English classes, organising outings eg. farm visit, marae stay and takes responsibility for the entire programme. This is an excellent fund raiser for the school and involves the wider school community. As NZIIU is contracted by our overseas affiliate to deliver a programme with some standardised criteria, full training and support is offered to the host school to enable them to meet the expectations of all involved.

Standard Programme

The majority of tours organised by NZIIU involve schools through the Standard Programme. A Standard Programme operates when NZIIU employs a Tutor Co-ordinator who teaches the English classes, recruits and interviews host families, organises activities and outings and takes overall responsibility for the programme.

All the host school is required to provide is a spare teaching space (usually large enough to accommodate 15 students) and one or two afternoons of interactions with the host school students.

Usually a warm, generous relationship develops between schools after a number of successful visits. This can develop into a friendship or sister school relationship, or even an opportunity for NZ schools to visit the overseas school and be hosted by the school. This can also lead to FFP and AYP students studying at each school.

NZ school trips overseas

NZIIU can provide outstanding services to NZ schools by organising their school trips to Japan, France, China and some other countries. Students will be homestayed in the host country, attend host schools with their buddies, experience overseas schooling, make friends, practise foreign languages, enjoy cultural interactions with the host schools’ students, travel and enjoy sightseeing in the host country.

NZIIU is able to provide the following services.

  1. Reservations for complete international and domestic flights.
  2. Organise travel insurance.
  3. Co-ordinate with overseas schools and affiliated organisation on programme and schedules.
  4. Prepare full itineraries including bookings for accommodation and sightseeing in your host country.
  5. Airport greeting, meeting and sending assistance.
  6. Assist with orientation materials and information prior to departure.
  7. Full support while group is travelling and homestay in the host country.

The duration can be from one week to three weeks.
